Lewis secured a third successive clean sheet and a fourth from five games in 1-0 win at Easter Road
ASTON VILLA are tracking Aberdeen No1 Joe Lewis despite him signing a new deal in the summer until 2020.
SunSport can reveal the Championship outfit sent former Manchester City and Manchester United keeper Tony Coton to Easter Road on Saturday to watch the 30-year-old.
And he would’ve been impressed as Lewis – outstanding for the Dons since his arrival from Cardiff City in 2016 – secured a third successive clean sheet and fourth from five games.
Under pressure Villa boss Steve Bruce currently has Sam Johnstone on loan for the season from Manchester United but is keeping open his long term options.
Lewis was named in last season’s PFA Scotland Premiership team of the year, edging out Celtic’s Craig Gordon, and for many still remains the country’s top keeper.
He earned five caps for England under-21s.
