ASTON VILLA VS BIRMINGHAM CITY LIVE STREAM
The Second City rivals face each other for the second time this season having played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at St Andrew’s last October.
It is the biggest fixture on the calendar for both sets of fans but there is more than local pride at stake this afternoon.
Aston Villa can climb into the Championship automatic promotion spots if they secure all three points.
At the other end of the table, Birmingham will build a five-point buffer to the relegation zone if they leave Villa Park with a win.
The home side are in excellent form and Ahmed Elmohamady is aware of the scale of the game.
“We need to get the win to continue our momentum and make it seven in a row,” the right-back said.
“Our position in the table is different this time around (from the reverse fixture).
“We’ve prepared right and are focused on our objective of getting three points.
“I know how big this is and it was great to be a part of it in the reverse fixture – I enjoyed it. There were lots of tackles flying in and it was highly competitive.”
Birmingham are unbeaten in three games and manager Steve Cotterill believes his side will not be fazed by the occasion.
“Quite a few of them have been involved in it before so it’s not going to be new to them,” he said.
“I think everybody will be okay.
“A few have played at Villa Park before, if not for us, for other clubs.
“It will be noisy, there will be a full house but that’s what derbies are about.
“It was like that at our place, too.”
