Lagos – The Lagos State Government has said that the ongoing renovations works at the Agege Stadium, Agege, ahead of the CAF Champions League, would create enabling environment and opportunity for the growth of sports development in Lagos State.
The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Sports, Deji Tinubu stated this during the inspection of work at the stadium.
He said Govenor Ambode had mandated the Lagos State Sports Commission, (LSSC), to upgrade the stadium to standard required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Tinubu, who is also the chairman of LSSC explained that the stadium would not only host MFM FC continental matches but also create an opportunity for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), teams to play their continental matches at the sports complex.
Noting that the renovation works would improve life around the stadium and also host high profile national and continental matches, Tinubu said the contractor handling the project, Irenetai Nigeria Limited, would charged to make significant progressive in the next two weeks.
