His band managed to land six UK number ones and sold over 25million records during his time in Irish boyband Boyzone.

Yet, Shane Lynch, 41, has come under fire by fans online following his musical performance on Tuesday night’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother which left viewers feeling a little flat to say the least.

The music-maker was first up to perform during Celebrity Big Brother’s talent show and belted out a rendition of his band’s 1998 hit No Matter What.

While the Dubliner brought housemates Jess Impiazzi, Ashley James and Malika Haqq to tears, Shane had a very different response from Channel 5 viewers who called the Irish star out for being ‘flat’.

Shane noticeably also held a song sheet while delivering the hit which he has performed numerous times with his bandmates throughout the years.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘…and this is why the singing has always been left to Ronan’.

‘Ha you can tell he was a backing singer #awful,’ another wrote. ‘That’s a little flat Shane.’ A viewer weighed in with: ‘My dog can sing better than Shane.’

‘I now understand why Ronan and Stephen always provided the lead vocals,’ a fan pondered. Before another added: ‘I swear I think this is the actual first time I’ve ever heard Shane L properly sing’.

While fans of Boyzone were left recoiling about his performance, others were quick to praise the star for the emotional moment which brought them back to their teens.

One fan wrote: ‘Such an emotional moment listening to @shanelynchlife singing. RIP Stephen Gately’.

‘Absolutely amazing. Brought tears to my eyes. Shane to win,’ another shared. ‘Bless him, he’s got such a lovely voice, but he picked the hardest song to show it off to’.

While another wrote: ‘@shanelynchlife singing ‘No Matter What’ is amazing. Feel like a teenager again – reminds me of so much’.

Another jumped to his defence, writing: ‘Ok Not the greatest performance from @shanelynchlife but the man can definitely sing, i seen and heard it personally many times! Everyone has their off day!’

Earlier in the night, Shane discussed how Boyzone had formed before their infamous performance on Ireland’s The Late Late Show in 1993.

He went on to gush over bandmate Ronan Keating, his passion for music and what the singer brings to the band.

Back in the house, John Barnes rounded off another entertaining day in the Borehamwood establishment as the male housemates competed in a talent show.

Following Shane, John took to the stage to show off not just one but two of his skills – first performing an impressive series of keepie uppies, before displaying his best dance moves as he raps his 1990 hit World In Motion.

While most happily chanted the famous ‘England’ lyric back to John, Ann hilariously  watched her co-stars, with a bemused look on her face.

Love Island’s Johnny attempted to chat up Rachel Johnson, Maggie Oliver and Ann Widdecombe as part of his segment which left little to be desired compared to Wayne Sleep’s impressive tap dancing.

Dapper Laughs Daniel O’Reilly tried to get a few laughs with some stand-up which included some crude comedy at the expense of Ashley and Ginuwine.

Ginuwine then takes to the stage for a rendition of his famous hit Pony, and enlists the help of Malika to sing the last lyrics of each line.

Despite not knowing the lyrics, the rest of the housemates are quick to get up and dance to the famous song, with John cheekily writhing against Maggie.

Following the challenge each of the women got up to share who their winner of the open mic and they voted Courtney as their most talented housemate.
