Axel Tuanzebe loan delay

18:15: Jose Mourinho is waiting until the end of the month before sanctioning a loan deal for Aston Villa target Axel Tuanzebe out on loan.

Steve Bruce hopes to land centre-back Tuanzebe for the rest of the Championship campaign but Mourinho is wary of being left short in defence.

“Tuanzebe’s a very good player that is not having lots of possibilities to play here,” Mourinho said.

“But he’s our player and will be our player, no chance we give up on such a talented boy.

“But it is something we are thinking about, a loan until the end of the season.

“We are a bit afraid of injuries, a bit afraid of needing him, we have Eric Bailly injured, we are not free of other injuries, so we are delaying the decision and we are going to delay until the end of the transfer window.

“If we have a decision at the end of the month and feel Eric Bailly is close to being back, then probably will be good for Axel to go on a loan and be back next season, because he’s a player we like very much.”

Eric Lichaj signs contract

17:00: It’s a perfect end to the week for Nottingham Forest right-back Eric Lichaj.

The 29-year-old bagged a brace in last Sunday’s FA Cup shock win against Arsenal.

His wife then relented to his demands to get a dog.

And now he’s signed a new deal until the end of next season.

Alex Pritchard leaves Norwich

16:50: Huddersfield completed the signing of Alex Pritchard from Norwich earlier today.

The midfielder joins the Terriers for £11m after signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Laurens De Bock debut delayed

16:30: Laurens De Bock will not make his Leeds United debut against Ipswich Town tomorrow (3pm).

Belgian left-back De Bock, 25, joined Leeds on a four-and-a-half-year-deal from Club Brugge earlier this week.

“He signed and he went back but now in a few days he will be back again with the team to train and to be ready for joining the group,” Christiansen said.

“He’s an interesting player at left-back – a position that we have been searching for so that will be a good signing.”

Aston Villa signing close

15:30: Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is set to join Aston Villa on loan, the Daily Mail claim.

The 20-year-old is on the fringes of Jose Mourinho’s squad and needs regular game time.

Sunderland exit confirmed

14:30: And there we have it!

Sunderland have sold James Vaughan to League One leaders Wigan for an ‘undisclosed’ fee.

Liverpool winger joins Bristol City

13:45: Liverpool winger Ryan Kent has joined Bristol City on loan for the rest of the season.

Kent spent the first half of the campaign with Bundesliga side Freiburg but failed to make an impression in Germany.

City boss Lee Johnson said: “I’m delighted to bring in a player of Ryan Kent’s quality.

“He did very well at Barnsley last year and he’ll bring genuine speed, athleticism and ball control to our squad.

“We thank Liverpool for entrusting us with another top player’s development and I’m looking forward to welcoming him into the group.”

Leeds signing

13:15: Leeds have completed a permanent deal for Oliver Sarkic.

The 20-year-old striker joined the Championship club on loan from Benfica last summer and has now put pen to paper on a long-term deal.

He has committed his future until 2020 and Leeds have the option to extend his contract for a further season.

Writing on Twitter, Sarkic said: “Can’t describe how happy I am to now call myself a @LUFC player, a dream come true.”

James Vaughan leaving Sunderland

12:45: Sunderland flop James Vaughan is set to join Wigan.

The 29-year-old striker joined the Black Cats for £500,000 from Bury last summer but has failed to impress.

The transfer is set to be confirmed later today.
