Barcelona pulled off the deal of the January transfer window so far by giving Liverpool a huge £142million for Coutinho.
The Brazil international was officially unveiled on Monday afternoon and quickly expressed a desire to bring the glory days back to the Nou Camp.
Many claim Philippe Coutinho is set to wear the No14 shirt previously donned by club legend Johan Cruyff and currently possessed by Javier Mascherano.
But Spanish website Don Balon say the 25-year-old is set to wear the No7 shirt in something currently being hushed up by Barca chiefs.
The reason why is Turkey international Arda Turan, who is their current occupant of the jersey.
Turan has been tipped to leave the Catalan side this month with Besiktas and AC Milan both emerging as potential suitors.
The former Atletico Madrid star is yet to play a single minute for Barcelona since Ernesto Valverde replaced Luis Enrique in the summer.
And Don Balon claim that whether or not his No7 shirt goes to Coutinho hinges on his future.
Should he go, then the former Liverpool star will get the number he craves.
But if not, then he is likely to wear Cruyff’s famous No14 shirt instead.
Meanwhile, Coutinho has thanked Barcelona for being patient in their bid to prise him away from Liverpool.
“I want to thank the president and all those who have made possible the signing,” he said.
“I am very happy, it is a dream come true and I hope to meet all expectations in the field.”
