Daniel Farke confirmed in his press conference that key man James Maddison is a major injury doubt ahead of Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough. Maddison didn’t train for three days this week after concerns with his hamstring, despite returning to training on Friday it’s possible he may not make the squad.
Farke is likely to have a selection headache on his hands with Ivo Pinto and Timm Klose also a doubt.
Opponents Middlesbrough currently sit five points above the Canaries and three points from the play-offs despite struggling for consistency this season. Former City stalwart Jonny Howson will also be returning to Carrow Road for the first time since leaving for the North Yorkshire team in the summer.
City will be keen to continue their good form after winning three of four league games in January – Middlesbrough will be sure to provide a tough test though.
It’s a long trip up to Sunderland for Ipswich Town this weekend and they’ll be hoping to recreate some of the magic that saw them beat the Black Cats 5-2 at Portman Road earlier in the season.
After early signs of a potential play-off push it seems that Mick McCarthy’s men may struggle to make up ground on the top six now however.
Despite a lack of investment from owner Marcus Evans, McCarthy seems pleased with the business he managed in the transfer window. Mustapha Carayol could make his debut for Town at the Stadium Of Light with McCarthy describing the winger as a potential ‘game changer’.
Their opponents Sunderland find themselves in a desperate state just one point from the bottom of the table and coming off the back of a 3-1 defeat to Birmingham.
