The Iron enter the first round of the competition with the rest of the League One and League Two clubs along with the non-league sides who have come through the qualifying rounds.
United have enjoyed relative success over recent years reaching the third round in two of the past three seasons.
They exited at the first round stage last season when they lost to Charlton Athletic.
However, the year before they enjoyed a run to the third round when they earned a lucrative third round tie away at Chelsea after beating Southend United and a second round replay against Leyton Orient.
The season before they also made the third round after beating Forest Green Rovers and Worcester City, going through 14-13 in a record-breaking penalty shoot-out.
The Iron will be ball number 40 for this evening’s draw.
Other significant numbers include Grimsby Town, who are number 23 and Lincoln City who are number 24.
There are three eighth tier sides in the draw in the form of Hyde United (number 61), Ossett Town (number 50) who have a replay against Solihull Moors and Heybridge Swifts (number 70).
The longest trip Iron fans could face would be Truro City, who became the first Cornish club to reach the first round since 1969 when they beat Hampton & Richmond, and they are ball number 72.
The draw will be live on BBC Two and BT Sport from 7pm.
