Hertford Stowaway Travel on Fore Street closes after 24 years trading as owner retires

A travel agents in Hertford town centre has closed after more than 24 years of trading.

Family run businesses Stowaway Travel on Fore Street closed for the final time on Saturday, September 30, as its owner Paul Stowe has made the decision to retire.

In a statement issued and published in the window of the former site, he said: “It is with sincere regret that I have to inform you that this office will be permanently closed as of September 30.

“As you may already be aware that I have owned and traded for the last 24 years.

“Due to ill health I have decided to retire and I would like to thank you for your custom.”

Existing customers however, can be reassured that their bookings are in safe hands.

Mr Stowe added: “Tracey from this office has set up her own company, trading as Tracey Stowe Travel Ltd.

“In affiliation with Travel Stop, an award winning independent travel company, who will provide her with all the licenses and bonds she needs to ensure all bookings made with her are secure and financially covered, including ABTA and ATOL.”

Customers can find Tracey’s new office above the GO Coffee Shop at 4 Millbridge, Hertford and next door to Shepherds Estate Agents.

“The telephone numbers from Stowaway and e-mails will be forwarded to her for a fixed period and she will advise you when and if this may change,” said Mr Stowe.

“Once again, I would just like to thank you all for your support over the years.”
