La Liga Club Fancy Loan Deal For Chelsea Star

Antonio Conte may be a tad preoccupied talking up a WrestleMania main event with Jose Mourinho as of late, but the Chelsea manager must also turn his attention to his squad amid the ongoing January transfer window.

Especially as one of his strikers may be angling for a move away from Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season.

Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi has struggled to establish himself in Conte’s first team since arriving from Marseille in the summer of 2016 and may finally receive more regular first team football, with La Liga club Sevilla eyeing a six month loan deal for the forward.

Batshuayi has made just 31 Premier League appearances since his £30 million move from l’OM 18 months ago, scoring only seven goals in the process. However, this lack of form has not dissuaded Sevilla from registering their interest in the former Standard Liege man, according to Goal.

The £58 million arrival of Alvaro Morata in the summer hasn’t exactly helped Batshuayi’s cause at Stamford Bridge, with the Spaniard often favoured up front to the Belgian international, who has had to make do with playing second fiddle for his entire Chelsea career, so far, with Diego Costa hogging the main striker role, last season.

Now, with a World Cup on the horizon, Batshuayi wants to keep himself in Belgium manager Roberto Martinez’s plans for the tournament in Russia, this summer and could attempt to force the loan move through as a result.

But will Antonio Conte be so keen to lose his backup striker for the second half of the season, especially with Morata enduring a rough patch, highlighted by several glaring misses during last week’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal, at the Emirates stadium.
