The campaign train of the national chairmanship aspirant of PDP, Gbenga Daniel, was yesterday in Jigawa State to garner support ahead of the party’s convention scheduled for December.
The aspirant, a former Governor of Ogun State, said he was in Jigawa as part of his nationwide tour to confer with party stakeholders in respect of his ambition.
Daniel, who was received by the PDP leader in the state, ex-Governor, Sule Lamido, stated that he had good plans for the party if given a chance.
He said his aim was to rebuild the party ahead of taking over government in 2019.
“PDP is the only political party in the country with a national outlook; and the only party that has capability to lead this country. In only two years, the APC has demonstrated its weakness in leading this country,” he said.
In his remarks, Lamido condemned the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari over the alleged award of a contract worth $25bn by just an individual.
He also described the APC-led administration as “fraudulent”, even as he called on the two chambers of the National Assembly to investigate the legality of the deal.
“In the history of Nigeria, there was never a time a group managing director single-handedly awarded a contract worth $25bn. It has never happened,” he said.
