Erron Brooks was looking to improve her health. She turned to Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method, a medically designed and professionally managed weight loss program developed by physicians more than 25 years ago. She lost 25 pounds in 12 weeks.
After seeing the impact in his wife’s life, Jeff Brooks knew it was time to partner with Ideal Protein and introduce it to the community on a larger scale.
“I think Erron’s success with the program drove us to bring it to our community,” said Jeff Brooks, owner of Livonia Pharmacy, 5975 Big Tree Rd., Lakeville.
Both Jeff and Erron said it was time to incorporate a program with such potential at Livonia Pharmacy. They are teaming with David Buckley, an independent regional consultant for Ideal Protein.
“It helps improve body image and longevity,” said Erron. “With the negative margins in a lot of independent pharmacy’s numbers, this helps the pharmacy while improving our patients’ health. It’s a win-win.”
Ideal Protein combines a protein-based diet with weight loss and healthier lifestyle education so that participants can get the most out of the program.
“Let’s educate on changing eating habits,” said Buckley.
The eating plan is a moderate protein, low carbohydrate plan that allows the body to burn fat for fuel. “It protects lean body mass while attacking fat,” said Buckley.
Though results may vary, most participants will lose 2 to 4 pounds per week, he said.
Ideal Protein uses weekly life coaching sessions to ensure success among participants. The session will discuss participant’s goals and the commitments they need to achieve them, support and tips for staying on track and any additional assistance participants need.
“It’s about a healthier lifestyle,” said Buckley. “Usually the person that comes in, this isn’t the first diet they’ve ever been on, and they might feel beat down.”
Buckley completed the Ideal Weight Loss Protocol in 2011.
“It’s predictable, repeatable and measurable,” said Buckley. “You can really plan out what it’s going to take to get you where you want to be.”
The program has four phases to get participants a consistent healthy lifestyle, which Buckley said is the most difficult part of weight loss programs.
“Everyone focuses on losing the weight, but no one focuses on maintaining the weight loss,” said Buckley.
Losing weight is phase one. The length of the stage depends on each participant’s weight-loss goal. Phases two and three are both two weeks long and focus on Pre-Stabilization. Stabilization is in phase four, the end of the protocol.
The first three phases fall under Lifestyle Building. Phase four is Lifestyle Living.
Lifestyle Building focuses on making maintenance a reality for participants, while Lifestyle Living helps to keep people on a permanent lifestyle change.
Available to participants are daily videos on coaching, cooking and fitness. This is accompanied by one on one weekly coaching sessions and refills on the Ideal Protein meals.
The program also has helped many participants reduce or stop using medications to treat high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, Buckley said.
Dieters in the program have lost 41 pounds so far.
