THE appearance of promising three-year-old colt Rellson will highlight the program at Pakenham on Thursday night.
In his four career starts last spring, the Aaron Purcell-trained galloper had form around some top horses. Two starts ago he finished fourth behind Snitzepeg in a Listed race over 1400m at Flemington before he finished a close-up sixth to Levendi in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes. Adding further merit to that effort was that he was wide throughout.
He is still in the Australian Guineas, a race where he is a $34 chance with TAB.
ORR STAKES: WEIR WARY OF TOSEN STARDOM’S WIDE DRAW
RELLSON (R6, No. 6)
Takes on some useful horses but on the potential he showed last spring he should be making a winning return to racing. Looked sharp in recent Caulfield jump-out.
BEHAVE (R2, No. 8)
Showed her ability at her second start when she ran on strongly and was narrowly beaten by Wanted Diva at Moonee Valley.
ESPLANADE (R4, No. 7)
Slightly disappointing in two runs at Geelong and then Pakenham but both were strong maidens and step up to 1400m will suit.
CARIBBEAN PEARL (R8, No. 7)
From barrier one, looks placed to return to the winner’s circle. Finished second at Caulfield two starts ago when run down in the closing stages. Last start she sat wide but finished well.
SWISS BEAUTY (R6, No. 6)
Racing well in stronger country races recently.
