9Honey’s Dani Pinkus and Sam Downing demonstrate Pilates moves you can do anywhere.
Pilates is a great full-body workout that increases your mobility, core strength, coordination and mind-body connection. All you need is a mat for a great workout anywhere, anytime.
In this video, 9Honey fitness instructors Dani Pinkus and Sam Downing show you how to tone your core with some fun and challenging Pilates moves.
Complete each abdominal exercise doing 6-8 repetitions. Take a look at the tips below to help you safely preform each set while making the most of the deep burn.
Chest lift: This is not a gym crunch. The tips of your shoulder blades should just lift of or skim the mat.
Single leg stretch: Don’t drop your leg once you’ve extended out, keep it at the same height.
Side-to-side: Keep your hips level for this exercise and avoid shortening one side of your waist as you take your knees over.
Roll up: Remembering to breathe is crucial for this exercise, but if you’re still struggling to come up to seated, slightly bend your knees to modify.
Double straight leg stretch: Do not attempt this exercise if you have lower back instability or core instability. Remember, only take your legs down as far as you can maintain your lower back on the mat.
