This is what happens when you throw your toys out of the pram…

Apparently Pep Guardiola is no longer interested in signing AWOL Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez after being put off by his behaviour since a deadline-day move to Manchester City fell through.

The Algeria midfielder has neither trained nor played for the Foxes since they rejected a £65m player plus cash offer for their star man last week… and he is likely to miss this weekend’s clash with Guardiola’s Premier League leaders too.

The Mirror claim Guardiola had left the door open to a fresh bid for Mahrez in the summer as he is still keen to add another attacking option to his squad.

Darren Fletcher and Riyad Mahrez battle for possession during the Premier League match between Stoke City and Leicester City.

However, they add: “The Spaniard is now said to have major concerns at the way Mahrez has dealt with the fall-out from his failed move and will look elsewhere.”

The 26-year-old, who is understood to have told Leicester he is absent because of depression, has given no indication of when he intends to return.

Mahrez has already been fined, and now The Star claim Leicester are ready to stop his pay altogether if he continues to stay away.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are said to be preparing a summer swoop for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure.

According to the Mail, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was impressed by the 25-year-old midfielder during Watford’s Monday night demolision job on champions Chelsea.

Pochettino was at Vicarage Road on a scouting mission. However, it appears he could have competition for the Frenchman’s signature from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Doucoure, who is under contract with the Hornets until the summer of 2020, cost just £8m when he was bought from Rennes in 2016.
