Premier League Gossip: Manchester City looking for Fabian Delph replacement

Fabian Delph didn’t do too badly against Stoke on Saturday – unfortunately he wasn’t the only one – but he doesn’t solve Manchester City’s long-term problem at left back.

Which is why The Mail is linking Pep Guardiola with a move for Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand in the January transfer window by way of replacement for long-term injury victim Benjamin Mendy.

Antonio Conte is beginning to sound like a man ready to hand over the league title already after admitting he sometimes hates his job in the wake of Chelsea’s shock defeat at Crystal Palace.

He’s also moaning about the strength of his squad and so they could be another club to flex their muscles in the January transfer window.

The Mirror reports that they, Manchester City and Arsenal like the look of Barcelona’s 17 year-old B striker Abel Ruiz… and his rather generous-looking £3m release clause.

You’d have thought Barca would have learnt their lesson on those pesky release clauses.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been told to buy David de Gea, says The Mirror, and the order has come from on high, very on high, from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Poor old Andy Carroll is getting it in the neck – off his own club – after two yellow cards in the blink of any for West Ham at Burnley on Saturday.

The Telegraph reports that he’s been castigated by team-mate Pablo Zabaleta, while there is the rather more painful prospect of an £180,000 fine off West Ham according to The Mirror.
