Rogic back in training for Europa League push

The 25-year-old former Central Coast Mariners prodigy is one of three players manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to have back for the last-32 showdown with the Russian side.

Rogic hasn’t played since early December but is back in training while Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong could also return for either match of the two-legged tie which begins in Glasgow on February 15 before the return match in St Petersburg a week later.

“One or two of the guys have started to return to training, the likes of Tom Rogic and Patrick Roberts, but they are still a wee bit of time off the games,” Rodgers said ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Cup clash against Partick Thistle.

“We will put a strong team out. I am always confident that whatever team we put out will look to get the result.

“I don’t think there is any rotation that I need to think about, it is just about picking the team to win the game.

“I think it has just been one of those seasons for us, we have had a number of injuries this year so it is a lot of bad luck really.”

On top of Rogic, Roberts and Armstrong, Celtic will also be missing Dedryck Boyata (groin), Craig Gordon (knee), Leigh Griffiths (calf), Marvin Compper (calf strain), Jonny Hayes (broken leg) and Anthony Ralston (knee) against Partick.
