Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a person whose body was found Saturday morning along Interstate 25 north of Monument.

The discovery and investigation caused significant slowdowns on both sides of the highway into the afternoon, but the Sheriff’s Office reported just before 5 p.m. that all lanes had been reopened.

An updated tweeted from the official Sheriff’s Office account at 3:06 p.m. said the death was being investigated as a homicide, with deputies following up on “several tips.”
