KAMLOOPS, British Columbia — One winning streak had to end.
On Friday it was the Everett Silvertips who saw their winning streak stretch to four games as they topped the host Kamloops Blazers 3-1 before 3,621 fans at Sandman Centre.
Kamloops (12-14-0-0, 24 points) had won five straight.
The Tips (14-12-1-1, 30 points) have won 10 of their last 15 contests dating back to their previous game at Kamloops, a 3-1 victory on Oct. 27.
Everett goaltender Carter Hart saved 32 shots as the Silvertips were outshot 33-23. The Tips held an 11-8 shot advantage through the first period, but mustered just a dozen shots the rest of the way.
Sean Richards broke a 1-1 tie when he buried a rebound off a blocked shot at 16:30. Connor Dewar, playing his first game since suffering an upper body injury nearly two weeks ago, added an empty-netter to seal the victory at 19:16.
Matt Fonteyne had a goal and an assist, and Patrick Bajkov added two assists for the Tips.
Everett took a 1-0 lead early in the first period and maintained the 1-0 advantage until late in the third period.
But a holding penalty on Everett gave the Blazers their third power play, and Nolan Kneen’s unassisted blast from the point beat Hart to tie the game 1-1 at 13:50 in the third.
Everett answered to improve to 2-0 against the Blazers this season.
The Tips took their initial 1-0 lead on the power play at 6:25 in the opening period. Fonteyne buried the tic-tac-toe passes from Bajkov and Kevin Davis for the early lead.
It was Everett’s second power play of the period.
The Tips finished 1-for-4 on the power play and now have scored power-play goals in five straight contests. The Blazers were 1-for-3 on the power play.
Kamloops goaltender Dylan Ferguson recorded 20 saves.
Everett returns home tonight to play host to Saskatoon in the annual Teddy Bear Toss. The Tips have beat the Blades five straight times.
