Sioux Falls is set to get slammed by another round of winter weather — including up to 4 inches of snow.

The city — and much of the surrounding area, from Brookings County to Yankton County—  will be under a winter storm watch as of 6 p.m. Wednesday until Thursday at noon, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas within the watch are expected to see anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of snow, starting from Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday.

Winds with gusts reaching 40 mph will combine with the snowfall to severely impact driving conditions, especially on Thursday morning.

The NWS said the snowfall will start around 6 p.m. Wednesday and last all night through Thursday morning. Blowing and drifting snow will continue after the last flake falls.

The forecast could continue to change as the storm approaches, the National Weather Service said, meaning more or less snow depending on the path it takes.
