Swansea City have shown an interest in CD Leganes and Greece defender Dimitrios Siovas as Carlos Carvalhal looks to boost his defensive options.

According to the Daily Mail, Swansea are in the race for the Greece international, who has featured 10 times in La Liga this season, including Leganes’ 0-0 draw against Athletico Madrid.

Siovas won four consecutive Superleague titles during his time with Olympiacos, before making a move to Spain in 2017 after a successful loan spell with Leganes.

The 29-year-old, who spent five years in Greece’s top division with Olympiacos, can operate as both a centre-back and defensive midfielder.

However, the Swans are reportedly facing competition from fellow Premier League strugglers West Brom, who are also interested in his signature.

The Baggies currently sit level on points with Swansea at the foot of the Premier League table, with four points separating both sides with Southampton in 17th place.

The Greece international would provide Carvalhal with more cover in defence, and his experience would certainly benefit the Swans in their bid to remain in the the top-flight this season.

Siovas could be swayed with a move to the Liberty Stadium for a chance to play in the Premier League.

Though, despite suggestions that defender Alfie Mawson is on his way out of the club, with interest from West Ham, manager Carvalhal has ruled out any speculation that he will be leaving during the January window.

Leganes have reportedly set a release cause of £10million for their man, although it’s unclear how much the Swans would be willing to pay for his signature.
