Speaking to The Daily Star, U.K, nutritionist Georgios Tzenichristos suggested the following foods need to be incorporated in your diet to help detox your body. This cleansing will help rid your body of all the junk you consumed this festive season and the benefits are endless.

All you need to do is include the following three common ingredients in your daily diet to help beat bloating and reduce belly fat. Your weight loss diet will be more successful if you follow this plan, which will also help get rid of the sluggish feeling.

1. Green Tea

You know that green tea has weight-loss benefits and for years now, fitness experts have been recommending drinking green tea if you wish to shed some weight. The substance that boosts weight-loss in green tea to help you lose weight is a molecule called EGCG which is known for its detoxifying properties. Green tea also contains polyphenols that will help speed up your metabolism and boost fat-burning while you’re performing exercises. Although since the beverage contains a lot of caffeine, it is not advisable to consume more than a few cups a day. According to Tzenichristos, green tea provides a whooping 7 percent active molecules (ECGC) which is higher than any other drink or food.

2. Cocoa

If you have read about how to lose weight by eating chocolate cake, you’ll know that chocolate does indeed have certain health benefits. Cocoa contains a high amount of flavanols (or plant chemicals) which are beneficial for the heart and the brain. A research conducted at Harvard Medical School suggests that cocoa is known to ward off diseases and also help cut cholesterol. Consuming cocoa also aids in the production of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical which helps regulate your mood and suppress appetite. Dark chocolate contains a high percent of cocoa so it is best to consume dark chocolate to yield the health benefits of cocoa. These products are also low on calories that are otherwise present in sweets that you would opt.

3. Turmeric

One of the top health food fads of 2017 was turmeric. Even coffee giant Starbucks included the ingredient in one of the items in their menu. The spice consists of a powerful antioxidant called curcumin. According to research conducted by the University of Maryland Medical Center, the component triggers the production of bile. This substance helps in the elimination of toxins to rejuvenate the liver. If you’re wondering how to include turmeric in your daily diet, you could consume the spice in the form of a capsule or even sprinkle in into your food or add some turmeric flavour to hot milk and other beverages.

If you lack time to exercise regularly at the gym, these three simple exercises could be performed in the comfort of your home to help you in your quest of how to lose belly fat. In an interview with the The Daily Star, celebrity personal trainer Peter Mac revealed his top three exercises to burn belly fat.

1. Leg Raises

Leg raises are essential to tone your upper body and build strength in your core muscles. This is how you perform the exercise:

Method: Lie flat on your back while simultaneously stretching your legs straight out in front of you. Now, squeeze your toes, knees and heels together. Lift your legs straight up over your hips and lower back down, at a 90-degree angle without touching the floor.

2. Push-ups

According to Fitness expert Peter, most people try and avoid this exercise simply because it is difficult to grasp completely and in the right manner. But only if you stick to it will you achieve the results you want to see. Push-ups are especially beneficial for toning your arms, back, core and shoulders.

Method: Lie flat on the floor and place your palms hip-width apart from each other. Raise your body off the floor while keeping your arms raised, until only your hands and toe tips are touching the floor. Once you’ve arrived at a push-up position, gradually release your body down to the floor.

3. Sit-ups

Apart from helping you lose belly fat, sit-ups also help you build muscle. Performing sit-ups regularly could help strengthen your midriff area and build abs.

Method: Lie flat on the floor while keeping your knees bent and feet firmly flat on the floor. Your hands should be placed on either side of your head. Raise your entire body up toward your knee caps by slowly releasing your neck from your chin. Lead the movement with your chest. Slowly take your body back down after you’ve reached the sitting position.

According to Mac, these exercises are most effective when done in bursts of 12-15 reps. They can be performed as often as required. You can achieve the best results to help you lose belly fat by performing the exercise sequences for at least 5 rounds, around 4 times a week.
