Chris Hughes thought Olivia Attwood may have been ‘the one’ before their shock split.
The couple have broken up seven months after meeting on dating show Love Island , and just weeks before their new reality show is set to air.
And pals of 25-year-old Chris say he’s gutted about the break up.
A source close to the star told Mirror Online: “He’s gutted as he really thought Olivia might be the one. He phoned her at the weekend to discuss things and they decided they should end the relationship. He’s obviously hurt, but knows it’s for the best in the long term.”
The break up comes after Olivia hinted to fans that things were over as she said she was “lied to and used for fame”.
And the split is just one week after Olivia was caught sending flirty messages to her ex-boyfriend, Bradley Sack, on Twitter.
The posts have since been deleted, but not before Chris saw them and replied “interesting”.
A source close to Olivia told The Sun : “Olivia has been pushed to the limit by Chris. She’s spent months putting up with him and his bad behaviour.
“He ended it on the phone, but then begged Olivia to forgive him, as he has done before, but this time she has no interest.”
“She’s done with him. She’s stuck by him throughout everything – his feud with Katie Price and even the incident in the nightclub where he was seen appearing to kiss another woman, but she is fed up now and feels completely used by him. She’s told him it’s all over and that’s it.”
Olivia tweeted earlier today: “I think one of the worst feelings in life is being angry at yourself. Angry for the way I tried to see the good in someone when no one else did. I fell for the lies. I believed I was more then just a job [sic].”
The couple, who met on Love Island last summer, have been filming their own ITVBe show, Crackin’ On, which is due to air soon.
It is not yet known if the split will have any repercussions on the show, or if the show will feature their break up.
Olivia and Chris have been accused of faking their relationship in the past, and have defended their feelings for each other a number of times.
They did nothing but row on Love Island, and it seems life on the outside is no different for the pair.
They recently insisted that their relationship is genuine on Lorraine, but behind the scenes the rows never stopped.
According to Heat , they’re still very much on and off – resorting to “faking” their relationship for their new reality show Crackin’ On.
“They’re still having rows and are very on and off,” a source told the magazine.
“But, at the moment, they can’t end things becaus ethey have to do this TV show together.
“They have to put on a united front.”
