Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves moved 12 points clear in the race for the Championship title with a stunning 3-0 win over Brentford at Molineux.
Ruben Neves, Barry Douglas and Diogo Jota grabbed the goals as Wolves ran away with the match in the second-half.
Here’s every word Nuno said post-match:
“I think both teams played good football. In the first-half we had chances but, at the same time, we know how to defend in our shape. Brentford is a good team , they have good possession of the ball, good movements. Their midfield goes high to try to unbalance us so keeping the shape was very important. In the second half everything changed. I think our talent came and we were able to get a deserved win.”
First two goals were quality…
“I like more the third one.”
“It was a tough cycle. These boys played a lot of minutes in very short days. Today they enjoyed it and they were able to get energy from each other. We went on to win the game as a team and we are showing that we are a team.”
“Now we will start to prepare for Swansea. We have our own ideas since day one of what the cup means to us.”
“We had to change. Our attitude must change. Getting the energy back, getting the speed back and supporting each other. It was a very important game after this period of time, after what we did in Bristol.
“We only focus on ourselves. What happens with other teams doesn’t matter at all.
“What happened in the first-half was a team that controlled the game, managed the game and needed a goal to bring more energy. The energy comes from the attitude and support of the fans. We are playing at home in front of almost 30,000 people – we must go for the game. There’s no doubt about it. We cannot have any attitude where there’s not a desire to win and go for the game.”
12 points clear
“Now I will think about the cup. The FA Cup is the next game. From day one we established a philosophy about the competitions. The squad will be important for us.”
