Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 17-year-old old boy was stabbed to death in Greater Manchester.
Officers were called to Gorse Bank Road in Hale Barns at around 6.40pm on Saturday.
The teenager was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.
The two boys arrested over his death are also 17 and will remain in custody.
Superintendent Marcus Noden said: “This investigation is in its very early stages and the circumstances surrounding this young man’s death are still being established.”
He added: “This young man and his family will continue to be at the forefront of our minds throughout this investigation.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this heartbreaking time.”
Greater Manchester Police will operate extra patrols in the area over the next few days.
It comes after 17-year-old Jodie Chesney was killed in an “unprovoked attack” at a children’s play area in Harold Hill, Romford, on Friday night.
Cries of “help me” were heard as the girl was attacked.
