Cricket clubs in the Mid Coast region are encouraged to apply for grants through the 2020 ICC World T20 Legacy Fund.

Successful projects between $5000 and $250,000 will be funded up to 50 per cent of project costs.

Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead encouraged local clubs to apply for projects which support local cricket participation and benefit the whole community.

“We know that sports like cricket have many proven health, social and economic benefits and it is a priority for Mid Coast to foster participation in the region.” Mr Bromhead said.

“The Manning and Great Lakes communities have a proud history of camaraderie, and the fund offers an excellent opportunity for clubs and associations to form partnerships with local councils to improve the quality and quantity of community facilities.”

Andrew Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Cricket NSW said that cricket is a global sport and the World T20 will witness 1.5 billion viewers tune in to 14 matches that will be played in NSW.

“Currently there are 400,000 grass roots players participating in cricket in NSW, and I am confident that the upcoming ICC World T20 tournament will draw more players to the sport,” Mr Jones said.

“This first round of funding provides an exciting opportunity for councils and local clubs to consider projects that provide long-term benefits to local communities.”

Applications for the first round of funding close on July 13. More information can be found at info@sport.nsw.gov.au.
