LEICESTER have reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Dennis Praet from Sampdoria.
The 25-year-old was chased by the Gunners earlier in the window, with the North Londoners having a £43million bid rejected for the Belgian and his team-mate Joachim Andersen.
It is understood that Praet will be allowed to leave this summer, with the Italian club valuing him in the region of £15million.
According to Sky in Italy, the Foxes are keen on bringing the former Anderlecht man to the King Power Stadium.
He could link up with his former Anderlecht team-mate Youri Tielemans at Leicester with the youngster joining the club from Monaco for £40milllion.
But it is understood that Leicester face competition from both AC Milan and Valencia for his signature.
Praet – who was snubbed by Arsenal when he was 16 for being too weak – has been labelled as a “complete footballer” by his agent Martin Riha.
Speaking of his client, he said: “There are other clubs that want to sign him, especially abroad. They’ve already shown their interest.”
While he also claimed: “I can’t add anything else now, I think you can understand.
“Dennis is a complete footballer and he is ready to join a big club.
“There are many clubs interested, we’ll know everything in a few weeks.”
