Blue Earth Area girls tennis coach Konny Wolf decided to shake things up a bit last Thursday evening, and made a lot of changes in the lineup, looking forward to the post-season.
She moved some doubles players up to singles, some singles players down to doubles, and teamed up some doubles players in different combinations.
It did not make much difference as the Buccaneers still shut out the New Ulm Eagles 7-0, on the Blue Earth courts.

Macie Stevermer bumped up from her usual No. 2 singles position to play at No. 1 and defeated New Ulm’s Makiah Otto 6-0, 6-0, to give BEA a great start.
McKenna Dutton went from No. 1 doubles to No. 2 singles and took on Abby Hietala, winning 6-2, 6-1.
And, Marissa Benz moved up one slot to No. 3 singles and took a 6-3, 6-1, victory over Malia Emerson.
Kylie Rosenau, usually a doubles player, played at No. 4 singles and downed Lydia King by a score of 6-3, 6-0, also.
BEA’s usual No. 1 and No. 3 singles players, Ta Armstrong and Arika Howard, teamed up to play No. 1 doubles and took on Bethany Janssen and Lauren Mages, winning 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 doubles it was Britt Howard and Addison Armstrong facing Ellie Wilker and Emily Guggisberg. The Buc duo won 6-0, 6-2.
And wrapping things up, BEA’s Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris shut out Neveah Ubl and Katie Wilker, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles.
The win put BEA’s season record at 15-1. Next up for the Buccaneers is a match against Belle Plaine on Thursday that was postponed from its originally scheduled date of Aug. 26.
BEA 6, St. Peter 1
For the second time in less than a week, the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls tennis team faced the St. Peter Saints.
The Bucs had come out 6-1 winners when they faced the Saints at the Mankato West Quadrangular on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Last Tuesday night, Sept. 17, the Bucs traveled to St. Peter and the score was the same, 6-1.
The Bucs got off to a fast start when Ta Armstrong defeated Amelia Hildebrandt, 6-0, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles position.
Macie Stevermer shut out her No. 2 singles opponent, Emily Salfer, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles the Bucs’ Arika Howard continued her winning ways with a 6-3, 6-1, victory over Oyku Celik.
Marissa Benz completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-0, win at No. 4 singles over Annika Southworth.
In doubles action, Buccaneers McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard teamed up for a 7-5, 6-3, over Ella Boomgarden and Milena Lund at No. 1 doubles.
Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris fell 6-3, 6-4, to Josie Wiebusch and Jayna Matejcek at No. 2 doubles.
Addison Armstrong and Kylie Rosenau took a 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 3 doubles over Raina Roemhildt and Macy Weller.
The win boosted the Bucs season record to 14-1.
BEA 7, Waseca 0
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers took on the Waseca Bluejays last Monday, and came away with a convincing 7-0 win.
The match had been originally set for Thursday, Sept. 12, but was postponed due to rain.
The victory a 13-1 season record.
Ta Armstrong started things off with a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 1 singles over Taylor Pfeifer. Macie Stevermer added a 6-0, 6-0, shut out over Emily Farley at No. 2 singles.
At No. 3 singles, BEA’s Arika Howard won the first set 6-1 over Grace Lapides, and Lapides had to withdraw with the score 1-0 on the second set.
Marissa Benz took a 6-1, 6-1, win over Emilie Adamek at No. 4 singles.
In doubles action, McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard defeated Hannah Potter and CeCe Huttemier, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.
The Buc duo of Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris downed Tanika Johnson and Morgan Bruhn, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
And, at No. 3 doubles, Addison Armstrong and Kylie Rosenau defeated Sarah Robbins and Ava Storjohann in a close match, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Mankato West Invite
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls tennis team won one match by a lot, won a close one, and then lost a close one at the Mankato West Tennis Invite on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Bucs defeated Fairmont in a close 4-3, score, then downed St. Peter by a score of 6-1, but fell 4-3 to host Mankato West at the end of the day.
BEA’s season record stood at 12-1 by the end of the meet. Here is a recap of the three matches.
BEA 4, Fairmont 3
The Buccaneers took all three doubles matches and added one singles match in order to down the Cardinals 4-3.
The Buc duo of McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard defeated Bergen Senf and Lauren Davis by a score of 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, it was Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris defeating Emily Haben and Ellie Hernes in a long battle, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Addison Armstrong and Kylie Rosenau took on Anika Haugen and Libby Totzke at No. 3 doubles and won in another long match, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
Arika Howard continued her winning ways with a 6-2, 6-4, victory over Maggy Totzke at No. 3 singles.
BEA’s Ta Armstrong lost to Claire Nemmers, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Macie Stevermer fell at No. 2 singles to Briana Joseph, 6-4, 6-4. And at No. 4 singles, Marissa Benz lost 6-2, 6-2, to Fairmont’s Lauren Green.
BEA 6, St. Peter 1
The Bucs bounced back from their first loss of the season to down the St. Peter Saints 6-1 in BEA’s second match of the day.
Ta Armstrong got things off on the right foot for the Bucs, downing Amelia Hildebrandt 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2 singles it was Macie Stevermer defeating Oyku Celik, 6-1, 6-1. Arika Howard downed Macy Weller, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 singles. And, at No. 4 singles, Marissa Benz took care of Annika Southworth in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard lost to Lizzy Orth and Emily Salfer by a score of 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.
BEA’s Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris took down Ella Boomgarden and Milena Lund, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, Addison Armstrong and Kylie Rosenau teamed up to defeat Josie Wiebasch and Jayna Matejcek, 6-4, 6-2.
Mankato West 4, BEA 3
In their third match of the day, the Bucs lost a close match to the Mankato East Cougars, falling 4-3. It was their first loss of the season.
Ta Armstrong had a long battle at No. 1 singles against Lauren Douglas, but ended up losing 6-0, 1-6, 10-4.
The Bucs got a win at No. 2 singles when Macie Stevermer downed Payton Douglas, 6-1, 6-1.
It was an identical score of 6-1, 6-1, when Arika Howard kept her unbeaten streak going with a win over Lily Schmidt at No. 3 singles.
Marissa Benz lost to Madi Plemens-Schuck at No. 4 singles, by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Buccaneers McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard lost 6-0, 6-4, to Kelsey Goettl and Anna Egeland. And, at No. 2 doubles it was Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris losing to Elli Kim and Safron Blais by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
The No. 3 doubles team of Addison Armstrong and Kiley Rosenau fought hard came up with a come-from-behind win over McKenna Schreiber and Julia Ulman, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
