Leeds deal close
14:30: Leeds are close to completing a deal for HJK Helsinki starlet Aapo Halme.
The 19-year-old central defender’s move to Elland Road will be announced in the next few days, according to Finnish publication MTV Sport.
It’s claimed the Championship club are paying a ‘significant transfer fee’ for Halme.
Prince Oniangue eyed
14:00: French club Angers are targeting a swoop for Wolves midfielder Prince Oniangue.
He has not featured for the Championship leaders this term.
12:45: Ipswich winger Danny Rowe has joined Lincoln City for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old has made just two league appearances for the Tractor Boys this term.
“He’s one of those players that will get supporters off their seats,” said Lincoln boss Danny Cowley.
Samuel Saiz price tag
12:00: Thomas Christiansen has joked that Leeds star Samuel Saiz would command the same price tag as Lionel Messi.
Playmaker Saiz, 26, has shone for the Whites since his £3million move from Huesca in the summer.
When asked if Saiz would be available this month, Christiansen said: “He’s not on sale.
“If he’s on sale, I believe that he must be as expensive as Messi.”
Sam Johnstone claim
10:45: Aston Villa loanee Sam Johnstone has ‘told close friends’ he is primed to join West Brom, it has been claimed.
According to Express and Star, Johnstone believes he is ‘heading to The Hawthorns’.
The Manchester United goalkeeper is on a season-long loan at Villa Park but has attracted interest from the Baggies.
Nottingham Forest manager latest
09:45: Nottingham Forest have held initial discussions with Aitor Karanka, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Middlesbrough boss is reportedly high on owner Evangelos Marinakis’ list of targets to succeed Mark Warburton.
Karanka wants to stay in England and, speaking last week, said: “I want to develop a good project.”
Leeds’ transfer talks
09:15: Thomas Christiansen is due to hold talks with Leeds chiefs about how many signings they will target this month.
When asked how much business he expects the club to do, Christiansen replied: ”First we are going to speak about that with the board and then after we will take decisions.”
Aston Villa thrash Bristol City
08:45: Steve Bruce was purring after Aston Villa thrashed Bristol City 5-0 at Villa Park.
Robert Snodgrass scored twice while Scott Hogan, Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane were also on target.
“It was a good way to start the New Year,” Bruce said.
“It was a funny old game because we didn’t have the best of starts to the match.”
