Fans will let their hair down in pubs and parties after a study revealed Brits are the planet’s top drinkers.

There are key fixtures in both rugby league and rugby union, while England’s cricket stars play Pakistan in two one-day matches. And at 5pm on Saturday, Manchester City face Watford in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

That is swiftly followed by Eurovision on BBC One from 8pm.

Presenter Graham Norton has urged viewers to “pace” themselves when playing drinking games.

The star is back in the role of commentator at this year’s event, which takes place in Tel Aviv, Israel. Meanwhile, research found British adults get drunk an average of 51.1 times in a year, almost once a week.

Professor Adam Winstock, founder of the study into 36 countries’ drinking habits, said: “In the UK, we end up getting drunk as the point of the evening. Getting drunk carries risks of injury and health harm.”
