A broken down train at Town Hall station in Sydney’s CBD has blocked all trains going through on the T1 North Shore line, leading to heavy delays.

The train broke down about 5.20am, a spokeswoman for the Transport Management Centre said.

“Emergency technicians are on site resolving the mechanical issue,” the T1 Sydney Trains Twitter account said.  Staff at Town Hall told commuters that the network would be affected for up to two hours, one commuter told The Sydney Morning Herald.

The Sydney Metro account tweeted: “Due to this incident on the Sydney Trains network, customers should consider changing at Epping for a Northern Line service.”
