Ilford stabbing: Man knifed to death is sixth killed in nine days in London


A man was stabbed to death near Ilford station this evening, the sixth person to be killed in London in the last nine days.

The man, in his 20s, died at the scene and no arrests have been made.

His family are yet to be informed, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

Trains are not stopping at Ilford station.

A man was stabbed to death Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets yesterday afternoon.

Bright Akinleye, 22, was fatally stabbed in a street near Euston station before staggering into a hotel lobby where he collapsed and died last Monday night, February 18.

The death is the sixth killing in London in nine days


The following day 69-year-old Brian Wieland, 69, died in a fire at a house in Chingford, east London.

Glendon Spence, 23, was fatally stabbed at a youth club in Brixton, south London, last Thursday.

And a 19-year-old, who has not been formally identified, was fatally shot and stabbed in Wood Green, north London, over the weekend.

Earlier today a schoolboy was stabbed at South Ruislip underground station. His injuries are not life threatening.
