Crystal Palace are off and running for the new season after a 2-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage this afternoon (Saturday).
Last year, it took the Eagles until October to register their first goal and first points of the campaign.
But they got the new season off to the perfect start as they claimed victory in the London derby at Craven Cottage, with goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Wilfried Zaha helping Roy Hodgson’s men to victory on his return to his old side.
After weathering an early storm, Schlupp netted the first Palace goal of the new season against the run of play, firing home from a tight angle on 41 minutes to put the Eagles in front.
There were chances at both ends in the second half, but Zaha made the game safe with a second goal 11 minutes from time.
And Palace fans have clearly enjoyed their first win of the new season, on the opening day, as can be seen by their posts on social media.
Indeed, some fans are even suggesting that this could be the start of a successful season for the Eagles.
