QPR have come out on top in a report compiling the EFL’s richest owners by the Bristol Post.
In the list, compiled from various sources, the R’s have come out on top thanks to the riches of owner Tony Fernandes and Lakshmi Mittal, who have a combined fortune of £9.5bn according to the list.
This puts the Loftus Road club well above anyone else in the EFL, with nearest challengers Barnsley boasting the next biggest fortune of £6.9bn thanks to the money of a consortium led by Chien Lee.
The report makes for interesting reading given some of the names who are higher up the list when you look at how their teams are doing, with the likes of high flyers like Leeds United and Swansea City well down the pecking order in comparison to a number of other clubs.
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani boasts a good enough fortune, but is shy of the billions on show from some of the other clubs, including mega-rich Salford City, who are funded by businessman Peter Lim and the Class of 92.
Rangers will be hoping that their riches can transcend into league form, with their fans wanting nothing more than to see them right at the top of the Championship under manager Mark Warburton.
The figures in football now are simply mind blowing and this report just rams that thought home further.
It’s amazing to see some of the numbers on this list and it’s equally amazing to see some of the clubs on the list struggling to have any sort of impact in the league table.
