ONE person is fighting for life and five others are injured after a car ploughed into pedestrians in a major incident.
Three air ambulances and police were scrambled to Canvey Island in Essex today following the horror smash.
Essex Police said a car was involved in a collision with six pedestrians close to the seafront, Essex Live reports.
One person has been left with life-changing injuries, while four are seriously wounded and another suffered potential life changing injuries.
Horrified witnesses claim the car “lost control” while at a roundabout and “just hit a group”.
One said: “We just came down for the day and heard a bang and then saw all the air ambulances arrive.”
A police statement said: “We are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Furtherwick Road, Canvey.
“We were contacted shortly after 4.10pm today, Saturday, April 14, following reports a car was in collision with six pedestrians.
“One was described as being in a life threatening condition, one with potential life changing injuries, and four with serious injuries. All are being taken to hospital.
“A section of the road is currently closed while officers and paramedics deal with the incident.
“We ask people to please avoid the area while this work continues, and ask any witnesses to contact us on 101 quoting reference 770 of April 14.”
