Scientist and health professionals espouse the use of macros to help diets shed the pounds.

What are macros?

“Macros” refers to the nutrients in food.

It is broken down into three categories, carbohydrates, fat, and protein.

Micronutrients on the the other hand include vitamins and minerals – also important for health.

Some popular diets already encourage changing macros to lose weight, such as the keto diet.

This diet which encourages less carbs and more protein and fat.

Not all nutritionists agree of the perfect balance of macros.

Best macros for weight loss

A recent study from McMaster University suggests one marcos formula that scientists found to be optimum for weight loss.

Subjects in the the study ate different ratios of macros in their diet.

The ideal ratio was found to be 35 per cent protein, 50 per cent carbs carbs and 15 per cent fat.

People at this diet and worked out for four weeks lost 10.5lb of fat and gained 2.5lb muscle.

Another group which ate 15 per cent protein, 50 per cent carbs and 35 per cent fat did lose fat.

The group lost 7.7lb fat but also did not gain any muscle despite following the same workout regimen.

Yesterday and woman revealed her weight loss diet secret which helped her lose five stone. 

The young lady, who posted her new look on Reddit, revealed how she did it to admirers on the social media website.

The 27-year-old women explained in her post under the user name “romanticheart.”

The redhead claimed that her method to her new look was “slow and steady.”
