Name: Vaishali Sharma
Occupation: Fitness Trainer
Height: 163 cm
Highest weight recorded: 63 kilograms
Weight lost: 12 kilograms
Duration it took me to lose weight: 10 months
The turning point: My turning point came when I realized that PCOS can make my weight loss journey very tough.
My breakfast: Oats or smoothies or pancakes
My lunch: 2 roti or brown rice with veggies or dal and raita
My dinner: Big bowl of sautéed vegetables with paneer or tofu
I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): Thai food or popcorn or ice cream (any meal under 500 calories)
Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Oats
Fitness secrets I unveiled: Never stay hungry and eat healthy food. Eat before you get hungry. Consume at least 6 meals in a day. Keep macros in count.
How do I stay motivated? I set up fitness goals for myself and try to achieve them. This builds confidence and motivates others too.
How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?
By planning your meals in advance and making specific body or fitness goals.
What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?
Being overweight is like giving an invitation to sickness. I used to be lethargic and faced some health issues (like PCOS and anxiety). I never used to enjoy dressing up.
What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?
For me, being fit is a way of life. I want to stay fit and healthy forever.
What are the lifestyle changes you made?
I ate healthy food, exercised regularly and slept for 7-8 hours.
What was the lowest point for you?
I felt depressed because of my weight and didn’t feel like doing anything. I didn’t like looking in the mirror and this attitude transcended into all areas of my life – work, family and friends.
Lessons learnt from weight loss: There is no shortcut to weight loss, you need to exercise regularly and follow a proper diet plan.
