A keto (ketogenic) diet is a low carb, high-fat diet with the goal to reach and maintain what’s known as nutritional ketosis.

A keto diet typically allows 50 grams of carbs while a low-carb diet allows 75 – 150 grams of carbs a day.  On a keto diet, protein makes up only 20% of the daily calorie intake while a low-carb diet is high in protein.
